CHEVY CHASE, MARYLAND – Two well-known, national retail concepts have staked a place in northern Montgomery County, launching a 76,000 square-foot neighborhood shopping center to 100% occupancy.  The leases, with the Red Wing Shoe Company and Edible Arrangements, total nearly 3,500 square feet and were finalized by shopping center leasing, management and development company JBG Rosenfeld Retail (JBGR), the landlord representative for Germantown Square Shopping Center.   Red Wing Shoes currently is open for business, while Edible Arrangements is scheduled to open in September.

Based in Red Wing, Minnesota, Red Wing Shoe Company has been known for its durable work boots and outdoor footwear since its founding in 1905.  The company, which includes the Red Wing, WORX, Vasque, Irish Setter, and Carhartt Footwear brands, prides itself on crafting all of its footwear products by hand.  Currently, there are more than 430 Red Wing specialty stores and dealers within the Unites States and Canada.  The 2,200 square-foot Germantown Square store is located on the CVS/pharmacy wing next to Blockbuster, and is open daily.

Edible Arrangements specializes in creating fresh, all-occasion, hand-sculpted fruit designs using strawberries, pineapple, grapes, oranges, cantaloupe and honeydew melon.  The company, which was launched in East Haven, Connecticut, in 1999 to capitalize on three of America’s fastest-growing industries – fresh fruit, specialty foods, and gift giving – now has franchisees throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom.  Currently, there is one Edible Arrangements store in Montgomery County; however, three others are scheduled to open soon, including the Germantown Square location.

Located at the intersection Great Seneca Highway and Wisteria Drive in the heart of Germantown, Maryland, Germantown Square Shopping Center is owned by the Nellis Corporation, a private capital management firm based in Rockville.  The center features a variety of destination and service retailers, including anchors Outback Steakhouse, CVS/pharmacy, Lancaster County Dutch Market, and SunTrust Bank.

Based in Chevy Chase, Maryland, JBG Rosenfeld Retail specializes in the leasing, development, acquisition, construction, and management of retail properties throughout the mid-Atlantic region.  Currently, JBGR holds more than 30 shopping centers, nine freestanding store sites, and numerous mixed-use retail sites in its portfolio.  For more information on the full scope of the company’s services, call (301) 657-0700, or visit www.jbgr.com.
