CHEVY CHASE, MARYLAND – Shopping center leasing, management, and development company  JBG Rosenfeld Retail (JBGR) recently finalized a lease for another 3,900 square feet of space in a new, 9,500 square-foot pad building under construction at its Free State Shopping Center, with the owners of a series of Italian restaurants well-known throughout Anne Arundel County.  Fresco Pomodoro, an authentic Italian creation from the owners of the popular Squisito’s Italian Restaurants, Severna Park’s Café Mezzanotte, and the new Four Seasons Grille at the Village at Waugh Chapel in Crofton, is the third tenant to commit to the new pad building at the center, joining national ice cream franchise Cold Stone Creamery and Rockaway Bedding.  John Zeaser of Z Commercial, and StreetSense’s Alli Oliver represented the restaurant in the deal.

“We are very pleased that Fresco Pomodoro has committed to opening a restaurant at Free State, and are confident it will find success here” said JBGR Principal Jim Garibaldi.  “The owners’ other restaurants in the area have garnered a loyal following, and we believe this concept will prove no different.  Fresco Pomodoro is an excellent addition to the tenant mix at Free State, adding another dimension to our repertoire of full-service restaurants already at the center.”

Owned by brothers Gennaro and Lino DiMeo and business partner Gennaro DiBenedetto, Fresco Pomodoro will be a full-service, family-style restaurant featuring an extensive menu of authentic Italian specialties in an inviting, casual, and fun environment.  In addition to a collection of small, wood-fired pizzas, the menu will include veal, chicken, seafood, and pasta dishes all made with the freshest ingredients and offered at a fair price.  The restaurant is scheduled to open late this summer.

Built in 1972, and previously renovated in 1995, Free State Shopping Center is a Giant-anchored community shopping center located on Annapolis Road (Route 450) in Bowie, Maryland.  The 281,000 square-foot center, currently in its second phase of redevelopment, features a variety of local and national retailers, including Tuesday Morning, Blockbuster Video, AMF Bowling Center, Grace’s Fortune Restaurant, Sakura Japanese Steakhouse, Starbucks Coffee, Chevy Chase Bank, Goodyear Tire, and numerous other service providers.  In addition to the new pad building, the redevelopment includes a new, 73,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art Giant Food store, plus façade upgrades, improved access and parking, and the addition of a small park and fountain setting facing Annapolis Road.  The redevelopment is scheduled for completion this summer.
